Situation

Users can’t track course progress in Rise because the platform’s built-in feature doesn’t support multiple languages within a single course. Locking the course down to hide side navigation isn’t feasible because it would reveal all languages, causing confusion and hindering open navigation, which could lead to users skipping or getting lost.

Task

I created custom progress bars in Storyline to accommodate users who might begin in the wrong language, as this isn’t a native feature. These bars were built using variables and a focus on user experience.

Action

I utilized advanced variables and states to track progress in a course with 9 pathways. Completion is triggered on the final slide after the acknowledgement quiz.

Results

We use this approach for all Storyline courses to maintain branding guidelines and display progress bars. The flyout menu is a new addition requested by stakeholders.
